DJ Sugabear
An extreme lover of music and all that it encompasses, Jason “Sugabear” Harris has been a fixture in the Phoenix community for over 20 years. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, it’s fitting that his passion for music would parlay into a blossoming career in radio. He was first introduced to radio in 1990 in college at Oregon State University where he had great success as a local personality for the campus radio station. His first “major” radio exposure was with Emmis Communication (Power 92.3) in 2003, where he was hired part-time. It was there that he met Steve Tingle, which later became his mentor for his four years of employment at Emmis. Utilizing one of his other passions for singing, Steve and Jason began writing and recording jingles and parodies for the station. It was these jingles/parodies that gained “Sugabear” local notoriety, and eventually would brand his name in the fixtures of radio in his new hometown, Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2007, when word spread quickly of a new Phoenix-based radio station being launched, “Sugabear”
actively pursued the opportunity to host his own show and was hired on as the late night jock which gained him the respect of his radio peers throughout the valley. After 9 months, he received a promotion to night jock where he had huge success.
"Sugabear" relocated to Sacramento, California in 2011where he served as the night jock for 102.5 until February 2014 when he transitioned to KHHM, Hot 103.5 as the Morning Show host. This current phase of his career gives him the perfect opportunity to display his true personality that his peers and listeners have grown to love over the years.
Jason “Sugabear” Harris is a fun-loving, laid back guy, with a love for life and music. His interest include, singing, writing songs, djing, watching comedy, hanging out with friends, and being an entrepreneur. His motto is “Everything happens for a reason” as he has a huge appreciation for life and all that it brings. His boundless energy and infectious spirit have made him one of radio's most recognized and beloved personalities.
